If you have ever been to an interview, then you know what I mean by ‘pretending’. The board pretending that you are of no use, you pretending as if you were the most useful person ever born on the earth, and even your resume/C.V. pretending as though everything written on it were true! I mean can’t you just put off that neck-tight ridiculous tie off and tell them that you need that IT job just for money. If it were for any fun, you would be trekking or sky-diving.
And have you guys ever pondered how much we actually fake in relationships. A girlfriend is unnecessarily worried about her boy’s some physical wound about which she can do nothing. But, anyways she fakes it because that is what girlfriends are supposed to do. The boyfriend on his part has to call her cheesy names because he thinks that is what he is supposed to do. Okay, a more funny situation- In India, when the relatives visit, they are expected to give some money to the children in that house (out of courtesy). The child is so conditioned that he will refuse to take the money no matter what. The child is expected to smile unnecessarily and keep on refusing unless the guest literally puts that money in his pocket (out of courtesy). Imagine refusing to a free 100-500 bucks for no rhyme or reason. Not only this, when the guests are served delicacies, little kids are not allowed to take a bit of it (out of courtesy)!
There is not a single person in the world who does no pretend. Why can’t there be a world where the short ones are accepted without heels, the dark ones without fairness creams, the fat ones without a long awkward stare, relationships with zero amount of cheese but a lot of understanding, students without good marks, people without good looks.
Think squarely about the matter. You do not make such people conscious about their appearance and they don’t get a complex about their looks. The people on their part- why the hell do you have to get that complex? If you will think what will people think, then what will people think?
It is okay if you are a teen and you don’t have enough money to buy that super hot dress. You don’t have to pretend in front of your friends that you hate that dress instead. In this process, you are de-framing that wonderful self of yours and framing an anonymous self. The one who is built on falseness!
It is okay if you did not get good marks. You don’t have to pretend in front of your relatives. Tell them fearlessly about it. So fearlessly that next time they think twice before asking. Tell is boldly to your parents and accept that you did not study but promise them that next time you would.
It is okay if you are fat and that stud doesn’t even look at you. He is out of your list already and that is more than lucky for you because you deserve a man who would embrace your body along with your soul, however ugly they might be. He wouldn’t seek to alter you at any cost.
It is okay if you failed just once, or maybe twice or thrice…
Amateurs started Google and Apple. Professionals built the titanic!
Again I would like to say…
“Pretending is trending!!”

It would be so easy to live in this word without pretence. Some of Courtesies are such a waste of time, if you ask me!

Everything you say is true but because the world is what it is, everyone is like a fingerprint…different and for that, they think that way too. I just read that Beauty is a curse to this world because it hides the true monsters. It would be nice if everyone said what was on their minds, or would it be?

Yeah it would be more than nice. Because if you say exactly what you feel, not much people will like you and those who will, they will like you the way you are… That means not a long list of friends (who are flatteres inside) but good friends will accompany you😊
Thanks a lot for reading

I wish the world thought this way! It’s ridiculous the things we pretend/fake every day just to prevent awkward situations…. it’s preventing a possibility to learn or even grow from it. More posts like this! 🙂

Authenticity is really so important. Should never try to manipulate people into liking someone else that isn’t you. The real self comes out sooner or later.

“Fake it until you make it” holds true for your spirits and courage. While doing that you actually attract that courage and you actually become that!

That was an amazing truth, we do need to stop pretending and live the life as who we are and stop pretending what we can’t be. Failure is the part of success, we learn through our failure and grow as a human :).That’s how life works. Thanks for this beautiful article. Have a lovely day!

I swear sometimes you get asked some of the most dubious questions in interviews. I try to balance it between being honest and ‘pretending’ but sometimes I wish you could just come out and say HIRE ME! Hahaha!
Great post, I actually got me thinking!
