A day will come that will relieve my external body of all pains, sufferings and it’s causes. A day will come when my body will lie upon a little white sheet neatly tucked under 4 corners of a mattress located in a hospital, busily occupied with the living and the dying. Maybe I die very silently… At a certain moment, the doctor will determine that my brain has stopped functioning, and for all intents and purposes my life has stopped. The news may be shocking regarding to my age. But, don’t let death overpower life. If life is a big surprise to most of us, then why should death be a more bigger one?
When that happens, don’t attempt to instill artificial life into my body by the use of a machine. Do not shed tears over me or show pity. And, don’t call this my ‘deathbed’. Let it be called ‘the bed of life.’ Let my body be taken from it to help others lead fuller lives and fulfill my cause on the earth.
Give my sight to a man who has never seen a sunrise, a baby’s face, or love in the eyes of a woman. Give my heart to a person whose own heart has caused nothing but endless days of pain… Give my blood to the teenager who was pulled from the wreckage of his car, so that he might live to see his grandchildren play. Give my kidneys to the one who depends on a machine to exist from week to week. Give my liver to the one who has troubled his wife and children all his life by being an alcoholic. Take my bones, every muscle, every fibre and nerve in the body and find a way to make a crippled child walk. Explore every corner of my brain, take my cells, if necessary and let them grow, so that, a speechless boy will shout at the crack of a bat and a deaf girl will hear the sound of rain against her window.
Burn what is left of me and scatter the ashes to the wind to help the flowers grow, instead of polluting a holy river. If you must bury something, let it be my faults, weaknesses and desires. Give my sins to the Devil, and my soul to God…
If, by chance, you wish to remember me… Do it with a kind deed or word to someone who needs you. Never refuse to someone who has come to seek help. If you do, what I’ve asked for, I’ll live forever…

This is perhaps the best or the most LIVELY DEATH a person can ever have….I too wish for the same.
Thank you for such an inspiring write up!

This is full of serenity…sounds so enduring…full of hope. Death is hope. Hope for lifeless souls…hope for a better tomorrow for the sufferers. Death is indeed immortal. 🙂

Wow, cannot believe that someone this young can have such deep understanding of the essence of life. Death is always seen as a dreadful event well for obvious reasons but it takes a deeper understanding of life itself to actually see death in such a positive light. What can be a better thought than wanting to add real happiness in life of others. donating organs is such a noble thought. I sincerely hope you inspire more and more people to look at death through your meaningful lenses.
I am absolutely gratified to read this piece from you. Looking forward to reading more …

I always say that the prospect of dying is scary, but the prospect of death isn’t. I’m certainly not concerned with what’s done with the vessel that carried my life force once the life force has drained from it. Donate it to science, medicine or whatever else. Let it come to some use rather than being stuck in the ground to rot or turned to ash to sit on a mantelpiece.
Another great and thought provoking post. Bravo!

Thanks! And I think that you are right. “Let it come to some use rather being struck on ground to rot”

Wow! It felt like reading a last will and testament of someone dying but phrased in a poetic manner.

I have read many pieces but none so beautiful,
no one talks about giving to others what they don’t have
in the way you have done here.
I wish you get more and more readers,
and Good Luck with your future endeavors! 🙂

thanks for these reassuring words – I do worry about death at times – but then fear is only an emotion & death is a reality. best to let the mind roam on how to be of use & happy 🙂

That is beautifully written| and on more serious note, we should think about organ donation as an option after the death|
